The third edition of Premio Berlino offers two emerging architects the opportunity to spend a six-month period in Berlin to learn more about urban reuse and regeneration and to participate in cultural activities on these themes. The award is promoted by the DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture), in agreement with the Directorate-General for the Promotion of the Country System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin.

In addition to the airfare, the two winners receive a monthly allowance for room and board and reimbursement of expenses for services at an architectural firm specialising in urban regeneration issues. The winning architects will also participate in the cultural activities organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin and ANCB - The AEDES Metropolitan Laboratory, including the presentation of their work at the end of the residency. The winners are also supported by a tutor with international experience, resident in Berlin and an expert in the local professional scene.

Applicants for Premio Berlino must:
a) be an Italian citizen and resident in Italy;
b) be born after 31 December 1988;
c) be architects registered with a professional association;
d) have a proven track record of design and research in the specific area of urban reuse and regeneration;
e) avere una buona conoscenza della lingua inglese (la conoscenza del tedesco costituisce titolo preferenziale).

Positive evaluation is given to those who have already implemented or are in the process of implementing reuse or regeneration projects.
