The announcement of the 15th edition of Premio New York offers two young artists the chance to live for six months in the Big Apple. The initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Cultural Institute - New York, with the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America and DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture). The initiative is reserved for emerging Italian artists with an adequate knowledge of English, who work in the visual arts sector and have at least one solo exhibition to their credit.
In addition to airfare, the two winners will receive a monthly stipend of $4,000 (for accommodation and board), as well as a space at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn. During their stay, the artists can also participate in a series of initiatives organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and the Italian Academy and attend classes in art history, film theory, visual arts and architecture at Columbia University.

THE WINNERS
The winners of the 15th edition of Premio New York are Sara Enrico and Ludovica Carbotta. The two artists will have the opportunity to live in New York for six months, to participate in a series of initiatives organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and the Italian Academy, and to attend lectures on art history, film theory, visual arts and architecture at Columbia University.
Sara Enrico, an artist from Torino born in Biella in 1979, studied at the Accademia Albertina and specialised in the restoration of ancient paintings at the Istituto Spinelli in Florence. Her research focuses on painting, and on the materials and tools codified in the history of art: oil paint, prepared canvas, and the wooden frame. Her works are based on a deep and artistic analysis of the painting, not only on semantics, but also on a structural and physical perspective. He combines art and craftsmanship.
Ludovica Carbotta, artist born in Torino in 1982, currently lives and works in London. Graduated in 2005 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Torino, since 2007 she is co-creator of Progetto Diogene, a programme of international residencies in Turin, workshops and experimental projects of education and self-training. Her research focuses on the relationship between the individual and collective space, through urban exploration, landscape modification and documentation of everyday life. His path is realised in sculpture, practised through different methodologies and study perspectives.
