The announcement for the 14th edition of Premio New York offers two young artists the chance to live in New York for six months. The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Cultural Institute in New York and the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, sees for the first time the participation of the DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture). The initiative is open to Italian artists under the age of 30 (with an adequate knowledge of English) who work in the visual arts sector and have at least one solo exhibition to their credit.
In addition to airfare, the two winners will receive a monthly stipend of $4,000 (for room and board), as well as a space at the International Studio & Curatorial Program in Brooklyn. During their stay, the artists can also participate in a series of initiatives organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and the Italian Academy and attend classes in art history, film theory, visual arts and architecture at Columbia University.
