The Art in the Light project promotes awareness of contemporary art among children and young people as a key factor in the harmonious development of each individual, with the direct involvement of established artists.
Born of the collaboration between the DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture) and Save the Children, the project takes place within the Points of Light of the association. The Points of Light are spaces in the peripheries, in difficult areas with no services, created to combat educational poverty and designed on a "child-friendly" basis to offer free educational, recreational and expressive activities. The project envisages the involvement of artists in the realisation of workshops aimed at young people from 13 to 17 years old.
Per questa prima edizione del progetto sono coinvolti gli artisti Massimo Grimaldi, Domenico Mangano, Adrian Paci, Luca Vitone, Elisabetta Benassi, Botto&Bruno. La selezione degli artisti e la cura scientifica del progetto ha seguito alcuni fattori importanti: tutti gli artisti individuati hanno una particolare attenzione verso i temi sociali e sono nati nel territorio dove andranno a operare o lo conoscono perché lì hanno già lavorato; inoltre, essendo artisti noti e apprezzati a livello internazionale, rappresentano senz’altro un esempio positivo per i ragazzi.

All the workshops include 3 moments: an initial presentation meeting, one on the artist's proposal and a concluding one to present the work carried out, open to the public, families, inhabitants of the neighbourhood or anyone who wants to participate.
Il progetto si presenta lunedì 30 novembre 2015 a Roma alla presenza del Ministro Dario Franceschini, nel corso di una conferenza stampa con Federica Galloni, Direttore Generale DGAAP, Raffaela Milano, Direttore Programmi Italia-Europa Save the Children, gli artisti Domenico Mangano e Massimo Grimaldi.
