The announcement of the first edition of Premio Berlino offers the opportunity for two emerging architects to spend a six-month period in Berlin in order to deepen professionally the themes of urban reuse and regeneration and to participate in cultural activities on these themes. The prize is promoted by the DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture), in agreement with the Directorate-General for the Promotion of the Country System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin.
In addition to the air ticket, the two winners will receive a monthly allowance for board and lodging and reimbursement of expenses for services at an architectural firm specialising in urban regeneration and the recovery of urban peripheries. The winning architects will also participate in the cultural activities organised by ANCB - The AEDES Metropolitan Laboratory and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin through the presentation of their works - at the end of the residency - at the IIC premises. The winners will also be accompanied by a tutor with international experience, resident in Berlin and an expert on the local professional scene.
Applicants for Premio Berlino must:
a) be an Italian citizen and resident in Italy;
b) be born after 31 December 1986;
c) be architects working in the specific field of reuse and regeneration;
d) have at least one realised reuse or regeneration project;
e) have a very good knowledge of the English language (knowledge of German would be an advantage).

THE WINNERS
The winners of the first edition of Premio Berlino are Leonardo Di Chiara (Pesaro, 1990) and Giorgia Floro (Bari, 1991), who have the opportunity to spend six months in Berlin and work in an architecture studio specialising in the regeneration and recovery of urban peripheries. They also participate in the cultural activities organised by ANCB - The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin through the presentation of their works at the IIC.
