On the occasion of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, the DGAAP (former acronym of the current Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture) is promoting three workshops entitled "Designing for the Common Good" to explore the theme of social architecture with young people newly enrolled in the Italian Faculties of Engineering and Architecture. The project - born from a collaboration between the Directorate-General, TAMassociati and the Universities of Padova, Siracusa, Alghero, Mantova, Cosenza and Roma - foresees within the 2016 Italian Pavilion the realisation of training activities on the themes of sport, culture, legality with three of the designers invited to exhibit: Marco Navarra, Alterstudio and Antonio Scarponi.

 

WORKSHOP DGAAP 1.0 – JUNE 2016

 

The first architecture workshop "Designing for the common good" focused onmobile sports devices and street games for the regeneration of urban peripheries. Three days of confrontation and discussion on project themes, graphic elaboration of preliminary studies and the realisation of scale models (1:20 or 1:10) of the design proposals of the devices for sport. The workshop ended with the setting up of the temporary exhibition of the results achieved and the presentation of the results and discussion by Simone Sfriso.

WORKSHOP DGAAP 2.0 – JULY 2016


The second architecture workshop "Designing for the common good" focused onmobile devices for culture and welfare for the regeneration of urban peripheries. Three days of confrontation and discussion on project themes, graphic elaboration of preliminary studies and the realisation of scale models (1:20 or 1:10) of the design proposals of the devices for culture. WORKSHOP DGAAP 3.0 – SEPTEMBER 2016


The third architecture workshop "Designing for the common good" focused on projects for the reorganisation and reuse of spaces, buildings, underused, abandoned or illegal land for social and cultural purposes, in particular for the creation of innovative services to support the fragile: employment workshops (typography, catering, carpentry, etc.); socialisation activities (library, social gardens, gardening), cultural/environmental economies (ecological island and waste cycle, market and craft workshops, spaces for artistic creation). Three days of confrontation and discussion on the project themes, graphic elaboration of preliminary studies and the realisation of scale models (1:20 or 1:10) of the design proposals of the devices for culture. The workshop ended with the setting up of a temporary exhibition of the results achieved and the presentation of the results and discussion by Simone Sfriso.
